TNBA Junior Bowling Program

Program Objective
- The purpose of the Junior Bowling Program of the National Bowling Association, Inc. is to foster and promote the game of Ten Pins among both boys and girls. Membership is open to all youth bowlers.
- The TNBA Junior Bowling Program promotes Sportsmanship, Fellowship and Friendship through encouragement, tutelage and guidance needed to learn the game and develop the skills that are essential to full enjoyment and successful competition.
- In addition to bowling, TNBA Junior Bowlers are given instructions in the basics of everyday living, such as: a sense of fair play in sports and daily habits, respect for others, leadership, responsibility and honesty.
- TNBA Junior Bowlers directed towards meaningful lanes of life, may their footwork be in good timing in:
- Sportsmanship, Fellowship, Friendship
Membership
- Membership in the National Bowling Association Junior Bowling Program is open to all boys and girls who have not reached their 20th birthday on or before August 2nd of the upcoming bowling season. Once certified under this rule, a TNBA Junior Bowler is an eligible bowler until July 31 unless under suspension.
- Individual membership in the National Bowling Association Junior Bowling Program can be obtained only through bowling in a TNBA certified league, or through participation in a TNBA certified event.
- The current certification fee is $7.00.
Age Divisions
Currently, there are four age divisions:
- Bantams: Boys and girls 8 years of age and under.
- Preps: Boys and girls 9 through 11 years of age.
- Juniors: Boys and girls 12 through 16 years of age.
- Seniors: Boys and girls 17 through 20 years of age.
Leagues may be organized to include boys and girls of all age division, if necessary or desired. The National Bowling Association Special Awards and Chevrons are awarded on the individuals member’s age
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for membership in the National Bowling Association Inc. Junior Bowling Program, and to retain the privileges of such membership; individuals who have not reached their 20th birthday on or before August 1st of the current bowling season; must meet the following conditions:
If a TNBA member participates in any bowling activity recognized by their State High School Athletic Association, the more restrictive eligibility rule TNBA or State High School Athletic Association will apply.
To maintain eligibility, youth bowlers must not bowl, substitute or pace in any bowling activity where:
- They are involved in any form of gambling.
- Cash or bonds are awarded.
- Any award exceeds $500.00 in value, not including cost for engraving, lettering, postage, and/or tax (For further clarification, see TNBA Junior Program Handbook.)
Buying or selling of earned awards is prohibited.

Program Objective
- To educate, train and encourage youth to become aware and involved in the operation of their Senate and TNBA.
- To foster the spirit of good SPORTSMANSHIP, FELLOWSHIP, AND FRIENDSHIP
- To increase interest in the game of bowling.
Operation
The program operates on two levels:
Senate (Junior League) level provides opportunities for junior bowlers to:
- Actively participate in their league operations.
- Be a part of the decision making process.
- Provides a base for future Senate members and leaders.
National Junior Council Representative to TNBA Convention*:
- Provides an opportunity for junior bowlers to experience TNBA first hand.
- Play an active role in shaping the future of junior league bowling.
- Provide a base for future TNBA members and leaders.

Program Objective
Assist in increasing revenue for the TNBA General Fund and each participating TNBA senate. The senate participating in the program will receive back one-third (1/3) of all gross receipts reported. This may be in the form of having a contestant or just selling vote tickets for $1.00 each. (The vote tickets are sent to the requesting senates at no cost.) This program also helps fund the High Score Awards Program.

Introduction
The National Bowling Association, Inc., annually offers $10,000.00 in scholarships to high school seniors on track to graduate. The purpose is to provide some financial assistance to youths entering college. (Scholarships are not offered to graduates entering any Military Academy.)
Prizes are offered to three males and three females: 1st place $1,500; 2nd place $1,250; and 3rd place $1,000. Five Book Scholarships of $500 each are offered to both male and female students.
Operations & Procedures
The National Scholarship Chairperson will furnish scholarship applications to local senates. These applications are to be submitted to qualified high school seniors or their parents.
Eligibility is restricted to graduating high school seniors whose parents are members of The National Bowling Association, Inc., or to graduating high school seniors who are members of The National Bowling Association, Inc., Junior Program.
The local Senate Scholarship Chairperson will assist eligible seniors in completing the necessary forms and contacting the proper school personnel to ensure that the senior is able to obtain the following:
- Attendance report
- Transcript
- Letters of Recommendation from school official, local senate member & community leader.

The local Senate Scholarship Chairperson will check for completeness and forward completed packets to the National Scholarship Chairperson by April 1st.
The National Scholarship Committee will evaluate for the following areas:
- Grade Point Average
- School Attendance
- Application Neatness
- Financial Need
- Community, School, TNBA and Church Involvement
- Letters of Recommendation
- Essay
Each category is worth 5 points, with the exception of e), f) and g), which are worth 10 points each.
The winners will be the applicants receiving the greatest possible total points.
The letter of recommendation from a TNBA member must verify the applicant’s/parent’s membership in TNBA.
The National Scholarship Committee’s Report will be presented at the TNBA Annual Convention, and the winners announced at the TNBA Annual Awards Banquet in May.
TNBA Souvenir Program

Program Objective
- To design and purchase souvenirs that TNBA members will be proud to have or give as a gift.
- To have souvenirs available on a year round basis.
- To create a program that will generate revenue for the general fund.
Structure
- Membership may obtain merchandise through a mail order program.
- Merchandise is provided through National, Regional, Rhodman and local city tournaments.
- Souvenirs off-site may be ordered by telephone or facsimile.
- In the future products will be available through on-line ordering.
Goal
National Level
- To create a program that will generate revenue for the general fund.
Local Level
- To support the national program through the mail order program on a year round basis.
- To offer suggestions and have input to the program.
- To have merchandise available to junior bowlers.
Benefits
National Level
- To build an alliance between The National and Local Senates to enhance the marketing of the organization worldwide.
Local Level
- All merchandise purchased in large or bulk will receive a 10% discount.
- Membership support will generate revenue to support the general fund.
Involvement
- All TNBA members can be involved in this program.
- Senates are encouraged to order for any senate program i.e.; Junior bowlers program.

To generate funds used to offset expenses and support other cost bearing areas of the organization with special attention given to the Jr. Bowlers Program and the Scholarship Program.
The intent of the Souvenir Program is to:
- Maximize the opportunity of our 100+ senates and affiliates to promote their organization in the TNBA Yearbook.
- Recognize those sponsors and businesses that has supported TNBA throughout the past year,
- Optimize efforts toward the success of those TNBA programs that positively contribute to, and make TNBA an important part of, the local communities.

General Criteria
The mission of the TNBA Hall of Fame is:
- To honor those members who have demonstrated excellence in furthering the growth, reputation, and character of TNBA and the sport of bowling in such areas as administration, achievement, and sponsorship. Nominees may be living or deceased.
Instructions
Completed Nomination Forms must be submitted directly to the Hall of Fame Chairperson (see below). Only nominations submitted on the official Nomination Form will be accepted for review. Please print or type all answers and complete the nomination form in its entirety. The completed form is the primary tool used to determine the merits of each nominee for induction into the TNBA Hall of Fame. Supplementary information in support of a nomination (articles, speeches, letters, etc.) may be submitted. These materials are often helpful; however, all materials sent become the property of TNBA and will not be returned.
This nomination kit includes everything you need to submit a nomination in Superior Performance, Meritorious Service, or Sponsorship.
- A Nomination Form listing the candidate’s personal information, nominator’s name, address, and a request for verification signatures.
- A Superior Performance, Meritorious Service, and Sponsorship Fact Sheet, which lists in boldface categories for which information must be provided. Do not use abbreviations (acronyms) for organizational names other than those listed.
- Nomination fact sheet(s) must be verified as accurate by both the nominator and nominee, unless deceased. If deceased, it is recommended information be verified by a family member, the individual’s senate, or by someone familiar with his/her career.
- In Superior Performance, list scratch (actual) titles only. Do not include titles won in handicap competition.

Awards Information
High Score Awards
The National Bowling Association, Inc. shall prepare and present to sanctioned members in good standing awards approved by the Executive Committee, who shall in a single sanctioned game bowl a "special high score".
All games must have been bowled in a TNBA and USBC certified league or tournament play.
A watch or ring shall be awarded to the male or female who has bowled a score of "300". A watch or gemstone lapel pin shall be awarded for a "299" game. These shall be given only once per season to each individual bowler.
Verification of performance of 300, 299 and 298 games, and 800 and 900 series bowled, shall be signed by and obtained from the Senate President and/or Senate Secretary, League and/or Tournament secretary, and received by the Awards Department with the high score application, before approval will be given, for the award to be presented by The National Bowling Association, Inc.
- A gold diamond ring shall be awarded to male or female bowlers who achieve a "900" series. This award shall be given only once to each individual bowler during the bowling season.
- A ring, watch or gemstone lapel pin shall be awarded to male or female bowlers who achieve an "800" series. This award shall be given only once to each individual bowler during the bowling season.
- A lapel pin shall be awarded to male or female bowlers who achieve a "700" series. This award shall be given only once during the bowling season.
- A Lapel Pin and chevron shall be awarded to female bowlers who achieve a "600" series. This award shall be given once per season.
The categories of awards below, shall be awarded only once to each individual bowler during the bowling season.
- A Lapel Pin shall be awarded to male bowlers who have bowled scores in the 285-298 category.
- A Lapel Pin shall be awarded to female bowlers who have bowled scores in the 275-298 category.
- A Lapel Pin shall be awarded to male bowlers who have bowled scores in the 275-284 game category whose average at the time of performance is under 185.
- A Lapel Pin shall be awarded to female bowlers who have bowled scores in the 265-274 game category whose average at the time of performance is under 170.
- An Achievement Chevron shall be awarded to members in good standing who bowl the following (averages referred to must reflect the average at time of performance that scores are bowled):
- Male or female bowlers with a 160 average or under; sanctioned 630 or better three (3) game series and/or 250 or better single game.
- Male or female bowlers with a 150 average or under; sanctioned 600 or better three (3) game series and /or a 225 or better single game.
- Male or female bowlers with a 135 average or under; sanctioned 500 or better three (3) game series and/or 200 or better single game.
- A Special Achievement Chevron shall be awarded to members in good standing who bowl the following (averages referred to must reflect the average a the time of performance that scores are bowled):
- 100 Pins Over Average (Single Game) Dutch 200 Game
- 150 Pins Over Average (Three Game Series) Eleven in a Row (297 game or less)
- Triplicate game 7 – 10 Split
- All Spare Game
Procedure for Reporting High Scores
- All applications must be completely filled out and signed by the applicant, League or Tournament Secretary and Senate President.
- Application must be received, all copies intact, by the Senate Secretary, within seven (7) days after the date of performance.
- Senate Secretary must send application to the Awards Department within forty-five (45) days after the date of performance. Mail to: The National Bowling Association, Inc., 9944 Reading Road, Evendale, OH 45241. Email Address nationaloffice@tnbainc.org. Fax – (513) 769 3596.
- All scores must be bowled in certified league or tournament play.
- All awards, for games of 298 and under, will be presented only once to each individual bowler during the bowling season.
Games of "299" &"300" awards are presented to an individual ONCE PER SEASON.
"600", "700", "800", &"900" SERIES:
- "600" Series are presented to female bowlers, only. Once every season (male bowlers must have an average of 160 and under).
- "700", "800" &"900" Series are presented to both male and female bowlers, ONCE PER SEASON.
Please report ALL eligible "600", "700", "800" &"900" series bowled, regardless of the number or if previously reported. TNBA retains a "600" - "900" series record for each individual.
Application for Achievement Award &Individual High Score Award
This application is used when a bowler bowls a Single High Game, a 600, 700, 800, &900 series, or has obtained any of the achievements listed on this application. Send the original (white) and maintain the copy (yellow) for your senate file.
Achievement Award Application for Lower Average Bowler
This application is to be used for indicated games/series achieved by the lower average bowler. Qualifications are listed on the lower portion of the application. A bowler’s score may qualify him/her for an award in the "regular" category as well as this category. In this event make application for the "regular" awards category, using the Application for Individual High Score and Achievement Award.
DO NOT SUBMIT BOTH! The one copy of the Lower Average Bowler is all that is necessary. Send same to the Awards Department.
Any application that is not received within the required period will not be honored.
Any application that is received incomplete will be returned to the Senate Secretary.
